Twelve years without losing a final

Edwin Teo and Kimberly Tan held the Malaysian national title every year from 2012 until they retired from competition in 2023. Since the Solo Standard categories began in 2024, their students have won every national title.

Sport, with dance as its signature

The World DanceSport Federation coined the word "dancesport" in the early 1980s. It keeps the traditions and panache of competitive ballroom without its narrow confines.

Today it covers every dance style with a sports culture and a real competition structure. It builds fitness and wellbeing, rewards results at every level, and crosses every barrier of age, gender and culture.

  1. 1980s

    The WDSF coins the term "dancesport".

  2. 1992

    WDSF joins SportAccord, the umbrella body of more than 100 international sports federations. DanceSport is recognised by the International Olympic Committee soon after.

  3. Today

    WDSF dancers compete at the World Games, Asian Games, Asian Indoor Games and SEA Games, where BDA's own head coaches reached the final.

Two disciplines, ten dances

BDA is one of the few studios in Malaysia that specialises in all ten. Every head and junior coach is a former Malaysian representative to the 10-Dance World Championships. Pick a dance to hear its competition tempo.

Formal and danced in closed hold, kept from the first step to the last.

    Latin American, Spanish and American roots. Expressive, intense, full of energy.

      Group lessons toward a yearly test by qualified WDSF DSPT examiners. Students move up a grade on their results.

      BDA was one of the first Malaysian studios to offer the WDSF DanceSport Proficiency Test, graded on the same criteria used to judge competitors at Olympic-family Games.
